Shareholder Buyouts/Corporate Divorces
Sometimes I think business partnerships are more difficult than marriages. Advising owners in disputes with their partners and transactions involving the buyout of one or more owners by other owners is a significant part of my practice. I am regularly on both sides of these types of matters. In perhaps my most unique owner buyout deal, I prepared an acquisition agreement with blanks to be filled in to reflect who the purchasers were and who the sellers were, and auctioned off the business between two warring shareholder factions with a $10,000 minimum increment between bids.
